Scholastic bands - tailor-made scores for your school orchestra

One of the problems encountered by music teachers is finding music for school bands and orchestras, when the line-up of instruments might be far from standard, and the children's abilities very varied.

Having started my career as a prep-school Director of Music I have long specialised in solving such problems, and now offer a service in writing tailor-made arrangements for schools.

A typical request might be as follows:

Can you arrange a medley of Victorian Songs to go with our KS 2 project? We have 2 flutes (approx grade 2 and grade 1), 3 recorders who can play G, A, B and high D, a clarinet (grade 3), trumpet (grade 5), 2 violins (grade 3, grade 1) and a very basic keyboard player who can manage some simple chords. And we don't have any bass instruments so a backing track would be helpful..."

And after a phone conversation about which Victorian songs might be included, I would produce the score and parts which would be emailed to you as PDFs, and the backing track as an MP3.

Cost is variable, but comparable to the costs of standard published school arrangements. And of course I can tailor the arrangements to suit an agreed budget.
